The bactotype MAP PCR Kit is intended for the detection of DNA from Mycobacterium avium subsp. Paratuberculosis (MAP) in fecal and tissue samples (e.g., small intestine, mesenterial lymph nodes) from ruminants and culture slants (individual and pooled samples).

MAP is the cause of paratuberculosis (Johne's disease), a chronic
